Raul expresses indifference about the state of the Mojave Wasteland, and he doesn't seem overly fussed about who's in control of New Vegas. Despite having dealt with some terrible circumstances, Raul's sense of humor has been left intact, and he regularly expresses his fondness for anything sweet placed into his inventory. Other than his tragic backstory, one of Raul's most endearing qualities is that he was around before Fallout's Great War occurred. ![]() It's here where players can choose to free Raul from his captivity and add him to the crew. Raul settled down eventually and became a mechanic, before being imprisoned by Tabitha, the nightkin who broadcasts on Black Mountain Radio. Raul and his sister made it to Mexico City, away from the site of their family's slaughter, and this is where Raul's transformation into a ghoul began. Raul endured some tragedy during his pre-war life after a fire at the ranch killed most of his family, leaving just him and his sister, Rafaela, alive. Before Fallout 's Great War, Raul was living on a ranch just outside Mexico City, where he occasionally found himself in trouble with the local law enforcement. Raul is a ghoul companion that players can recruit in Fallout: New Vegas. Thanks to his being a ghoul, Raul is immediately memorable when players might be used to the irradiated creatures attacking them.
